He studied music at College of the Albemarle for one year (1982-1983), and then transferred to  Holmes Bible College in Greenville, SC (1983-1986). He continued studying for one year at Roanoke Bible College in Elizabeth City, NC. He married his wife, Wanda, in 1992 and they have two children: Nathaniel and Charity. He ministered as a Christian solo artist for five years before becoming a co-founder of the music ministry, Step of Faith (1996-present). He joined the Rocky Hock Playhouse in 2003 where he performed in approximately 50 Christian musicals as a singer/actor for seventeen years. He was the Music Minister at Fellowship Baptist Church (2007-2009) and then became the Music Minister at Ebenezer Baptist Church of South Mills, NC in February 2010.
